Romantic Dramatic Gamine Makeup
Of all the style types, RDGs are the ultimate makeup wearers.
Romantic gets glam makeup, Dramatic gets avant-garde makeup, and Gamine gets ultra-creative makeup.
If you’re an RDG, you can wear all those diverse styles at once:
The miraculous thing about many Romantic Dramatic Gamines: they can keep piling makeup on and on and on and have it look harmonious.
The heaviest eyeliner, lashes, and eyeshadow tend to enhance rather than overpower RDG beauty:
Can other essence blends pull off this kind of makeup? Sometimes, but it tends to be trickier:
Highly Ethereal, Ingenue, or Natural faces are flattered by a much lighter touch.
Classics prefer a more moderate and somewhat restrained aesthetic.
Pure Romantic Dramatics can pull off a ton of makeup. But colorful or quirky makeup can easily clash with the seriousness of Romantic Dramatic beauty.
Of all the style types, Romantic Dramatic Gamines get the most extreme—yet simultaneously fun and playful—makeup options.
Romantic Dramatic Gamine Fashion
What’s true of makeup is also true of fashion: RDGs can wear some really out-there looks.
Oversized fur (Romantic Dramatic) with playful colors and patterns (Gamine).

What is RDG Fashion?
RDG fashion combines glam and avant-garde Romantic Dramatic bombshell style with Gamine quirkiness:
Will you be wearing this outfit to class or the office, maybe not. But the more avant-garde side of RDG fashion can still inspire your everyday look.
Maybe you pair a patterned body-con dress with sneakers instead of heels, or with leggings and boots.
As easy as it is to make the RDG aesthetic feel over-the-top, you can also make it work for real life.
Wearable Romantic Dramatic Gamine
Gamines are gorgeous in many denim styles, especially slim-fit and skinny jeans. So wearing denim is one way to casualize an RDG look:
Jeans help an oversized-yet-sleek Dramatic blazer and lacy Romantic top feel less formal.
This could even be an easy RDG outfit formula: narrow Gamine jeans + sexy Romantic top + exaggerated Dramatic jacket.
Wearing a lot of neutrals can also be a good strategy as an RDG, since:
Neutral and monochromatic looks, especially in deep colors, can easily appear formal and bold—even when you’re wearing jeans and a Tee.
So wearing monochromatic neutrals can help you communicate Romantic Dramatic Gamine intensity while still wearing relatively casual clothes.
See T-shirt styles that suit every essence.
Less Wearable RDG Style (that can still provide outfit inspo!)
Crop tops and mini skirts are Romantic Gamine wardrobe staples. They can also easily take on Dramatic in an edgy, leather-like fabric (although we’re definitely straying from “wearable” territory here):
“Going out” type outfits often have a lot of Romantic, Dramatic, and/or Gamine.
Since Romantic Dramatic bombshell style is iconically sexy, and since Gamine is great in short and fitted silhouettes, RDG fashion can exude extreme sex appeal:
Even if you don’t want to wear super sexy RDG style, you might still take inspiration from it.
So maybe you layer a cropped top over a full-length shirt or pair it with high-waist bottoms. Or wear leggings or opaque tights under a short skirt.
With some creativity, over-the-top RDG style can become very wearable!
Romantic Dramatic Gamine Faces
So RDG fashion and makeup are highly attention-grabbing—is this true of RDG faces, too?
Often, yes!
The disclaimer is that people with the exact same style type can look very different from one another. So ultimately, it’s impossible to provide a single description of what all RDG faces look like, because every RDG is beautifully unique. The following description applies to some RDGs but not necessarily to all.
Romantic Dramatic faces can look intensely passionate, like the visual embodiment of deep infatuation or love.
Romantic Dramatic Gamine faces can also look intensely passionate.
But because of Gamine, RDGs often appear friendlier and more approachable than Romantic Dramatics (although of course, there will be exceptions).
But RDG faces aren’t relegated to expressing only one vibe.
Sometimes they might exude a seriousness and passion very much akin to the Romantic Dramatic type.
At other times, they might seem more playful and chill.
And sometimes they can appear both highly serious and highly playful.
Romantic Dramatic Gamine Facial Features
Romantic Dramatic Gamines often have:
Large, flirty, or upturned eyes
Arched, dense, or expressive brows
Delicate yet sharp bone structure, including small, short, or defined chins:
Of course, not all RDGs will have these exact features.
One reason I don’t spend much time describing the literal features of the types is that there really is so much range within each style type. It’s typically impossible to say that any type always has a specific facial feature, like large eyes or an angular nose or anything else.
What tends to be more consistent within a given style type is that type’s vibe—although of course, two people with the same type can have a very different vibe.
And even the exact same person can have a very different vibe compared to themself, depending on their makeup, hair, outfit, facial expression, etc.
Color Season Connection
Any style type can have any color season. But the seasons with the most conceptual overlap with the RDG style type tend to be Winter and Spring.
This is because Winter and Spring are characterized by vivid colors, fitting RDG’s bold vibe.
But if you’re an Autumn or Summer, you can still make your color palette work beautifully with RDG fashion. Here’s just a few ways to do that:
Rely a lot on neutral color schemes, as described above.
Wear colors that feel iconically intense, like your season’s reds and red-oranges.
Make your gentle colors feel bolder with techniques like color-blocking or wearing monochromatic looks.
If you’re an Autumn or Summer, techniques like color-blocking will feel intense on you, even in gentle hues.
Controversial RDGs
Since RDG’s vibe is so bold, RDGs with very pale skin, hair, or eye colors might be mistaken for having gentler essences.
Dianna Agron typically has light blonde hair, and with her rounded features, I suspect many would think she has a lot of Ingenue.
But highly Ingenue faces usually aren’t harmonious in bold and angular smokey eyes:
This black-and-white photoshoot shows how Romantic Dramatic makeup, hair, and outfits really flatter Dianna Agron.
She looks authentic in what on many would feel like an unconvincing costume:
Despite Dianna’s gentle coloring, her best styling has the edgy glamour of RDG.
Romantic Dramatic Gamine vs. Romantic Dramatic
With their similar facial features and vibes, Romantic Dramatic Gamine and Romantic Dramatic can be two of the hardest types to distinguish.
To make things even more complicated, in Kibbe’s body type system, many Romantic Dramatic Gamines will fall into the category of Theatrical Romantic—essentially Kibbe’s version of the Romantic Dramatic.
People familiar with Kibbe’s system may have a habit of visually grouping together all faces that have notable amounts of both Romantic and Dramatic. This can make it harder to distinguish RDG and RD.
So, how do you differentiate them?
One approach is to ask whether the person looks their best with A. some amount playfulness in their fashion, hair, and makeup, or B. a very serious, overall mature look.
RDGs can look a bit stiff in RD bombshell fashion, like body-con maxis.
RDG Salma Hayek is absolutely gorgeous in this highly Romantic Dramatic dress, hair, and makeup.
Though since this overall look is so serious, the maxi sheath dress has a bit of a “straitjacket” feel on her— a really good-looking strait-jacket! But Gamine wants slightly more fun.
Salma illustrates the difficulty of distinguishing RD from RDG, since many Romantic Dramatic Gamines can look amazing in purely RD fashion—they just look even more harmonious with some Gamine.
Romantic Dramatic Gamine Actresses
Why are so many actresses RDGs? Is it partly because their style essences are so inherently expressive?
Maybe. Maybe not. The more obvious explanation: Romantic Dramatic Gamines are a quintessentially sexy type, with the bombshell Romantic Dramatic vibe combined with the playful flirtiness of Gamine.
Of course, people with any style type can exude strong sex appeal. But the natural passion of RDG faces might help make them especially in-demand as movie stars.
Plus, by pulling off intense makeup and fashion, Romantic Dramatic Gamines fit modernity’s arguable bias toward bold, attention-grabbing beauty.
