The other essences can easily feel emotionally intense (powerful Dramatic, passionate Romantic, enthusiastic Gamine) or restrained and professional (Classic).

In contrast, Ethereal Natural Ingenue beauty feels serene, gentle, and open.

ENI beauty also visually embodies what many of us want in the personalities of people close to us: friendly (Natural), thoughtful (Ethereal), and kind (Ingenue).

ENIs with a lot of Ethereal will have dreamy, wise, staring-into-your-soul beauty:

The ENIs I’ve typed so far often seem to have:

large, curvy, sometimes heavy-lidded eyes
strong, sometimes wide bone structure
moderately full lips

But not all ENIs will have these traits.

In a literal sense, it’s very hard to say what ENIs tend to look like.

This is because ENIs can look extremely different from one another depending on their ratio of essences, and depending on which of their facial features contain which essences.

What most defines ENI beauty isn’t their literal features; it’s their vibes.

ENIs remind us of the powerful beauty of peace, friendliness, and kindness.

Ethereal Natural Ingenue Fashion

What does a nymph (a.k.a., a youthful nature goddess) wear?

One option is a loose, flowy dress with tiny floral print.

ENI style is an amazing aesthetic. It provides a wearable and realistic (Natural, Ingenue) way to integrate fantasy (Ethereal) into everyday life, while still feeling unpretentious and practical.

Option 1: Pair Ethereal Ingenue Tops with Natural Bottoms

This might be the simplest method.

Naturals have unlimited denim options—wide-leg, relaxed-fit, full-length, loose cutoffs, etc.

And while Ethereal Ingenue blouses might not be the most common shirt in existence, it’s often easy to find tops that blend elements of Ethereal and Ingenue.

This is because Ethereal and Ingenue both have a gentle and conventionally feminine vibe, and designers will often put conceptually-similar essences into a single outfit.

(It tends to be less common to see conceptually-opposite essences in a single outfit, which is why Dramatic Ingenue fashion can be so elusive!)

These voluminous yet still narrow and curvy sleeves have Ethereal, while the dainty circular lace is Ingenue. Wearing this shirt casually knotted also brings in Natural.

The loose denim shorts are also Natural, and the braided rope belt is Ethereal Natural.
For cooler weather, you could easily swap the shorts for full-length, relaxed-fit denim.

Option 2: Pair Ethereal Ingenue Dresses with Natural Accessories

Many dress styles are purely Ethereal Ingenue:

The delicate lace, buttons, ruffles and smocking are highly Ingenue. The sheer texture and billowy sleeves are iconic for Ethereal.

Look for a maxi version to emphasize Ethereal, or a knee-length (or a bit above or below) style to emphasize Ingenue.

To add Natural, swap the very cool-looking ruffled hat for a simple straw one:

Naturals are flattered by layering, but one hat will suffice.

You could also add a woven straw tote; jewelry made from cork or other natural material; or a chunky-knit oversized cardigan to bring in more Natural.

Option 3: Pair Ethereal Natural Tops with Ingenue Bottoms

Tops that have a “boho” feel—flowy, loose, relaxed—often combine Ethereal and Natural:

If a flower crown or butterfly lip-ring isn’t in your future, that’s ok! You have many wearable ENI accessory options.

We already noted how Ethereal Ingenue dresses can be accessorized with casual Natural hats or bags.

But it can be even easier to accessorize Natural Ingenue outfits with Ethereal accessories, since Natural Ingenue fashion is highly wearable and practical:

Long, narrow chain necklaces (especially layered together) are one of the easiest-to-find Ethereal accessories. The tiny circular details on this one tie in Ingenue, too.

Ethereal Natural Ingenue Hair and Makeup

This is the third time I’ve used this photo in this post—it’s just that good!

The understated, highly Natural makeup, plus the Ethereal waves and Ingenue bangs, enhance Sarah Polley’s breathtaking ENI beauty. (This is one of the best bang or faux-bang styles for Ingenue—curving edges and slightly short, ending a bit above the brows.)
Bold red doesn’t tend to be ENI’s most flattering color, but I think the lip works here, since everything else is so gentle, and since the gloss creates a soft texture. And I’m not sure if it’s intentional, but the top of her bottom lip appears very light, creating an ombre effect that’s great for Ethereal.

Here’s Julianne Moore rocking a paler lip:

The lighter lip is fantastic for her essence blend (though this version appears too cool for her color season). These Ethereal waves have a bit of texture that suits Natural, too.

Defined lashes combined with dark eyeliner are ok, especially since she skipped heavy lower lash emphasis—but see below for an even better option!

Ethereal Natural Ingenue’s best lashes will tend to feel airier, like this:

Slicked back hair isn’t ideal for ENI, but here it kind of works, because the makeup is so mesmerizing, it makes sense to show it off.

I love the Natural, foundation-free skin texture and just a touch of lip emphasis, in a pink that flatters Ingenue, too, plus long but feathery lashes that this time don’t feel at all heavy.
And what completes this is the subtle glow on the eyelids and inner corners—if you’re an Ethereal, that’s one of your most important makeup steps.

Here’s a version of less ideal ENI eye emphasis:

ENI Debra Messing is so beautiful, and the coral gloss is great. But the eye makeup and overall styling—hair, earrings, top—feel too severe for her serene beauty.

Softer hair really helps connect with her face more, though this eye makeup is still overpowering:

When Debra Messing pairs long waves with delicate makeup, the effect is stunning:

So beautiful. And her lashes still appear quite long, but long lashes are actually great for Ethereals and Naturals, since both are elongated essences, and since long lashes can feel dreamy (Ethereal).

The issue with very thick lashes, especially paired with thick matte eyeliner, is that they can easily feel like big, solid blocks of color draped on top of the eyes. That’s a good look for Dramatics and Gamines, but it will tend to feel too heavy for every other essence.

ENI General Makeup Tips

One of the most confusing things about ENIs is that although heavy makeup easily overwhelms them, it’s not necessarily true that they can only look their best in “minimal” makeup.

As we see above, long lashes are great for Ethereal and Natural; glowy eyeshadow is excellent for Ethereal; and pink lips are so pretty for Ingenue.

Plus, Naturals are amazing in bronzer, Ethereals in highlight, and Ingenues in blush.

So as an Ethereal Natural Ingenue, you can look awesome in a full face of makeup (though if you have a high amount of Natural, you may find that wearing all these products at once looks too “done”).

Takeaway: ENIs can often wear a lot of makeup, in the sense of wearing many different products at once. It’s just that the overall impression will tend to feel gentle and relaxed, rather than bold or intense.

Finding ENIs

ENI celebrities can be tough to spot, especially because celebrities are often photographed in elaborate, somewhat heavy makeup for events.

I was surprised that celebrities like Shenae Grimes and Adele are ENI, since their signature makeup is rather intense.

But one thing I’ve really been reminded of recently is that the makeup (and hair and fashion) that people typically wear doesn’t necessarily match their style essences.

It’s hard to find pictures of Adele that I can legally post on a blog, but I do think in photos of her with ultra-thick liner and bold red lips, while she is beautiful, and while the makeup is beautiful, there isn’t an optimal connection between her vibe and the makeup.

Color Season Connection

As I always say: any style type can have any color season.

And any style type and color season can coexist harmoniously in the same person.

Overall, ENI beauty has a lot of conceptual overlap with the Summer color season: just like Summer colors, ENI beauty is gentle and relaxed, and can have a misty, dreamy quality.

But of course, you can absolutely be an ENI and not be a Summer season (ENI Julianne Moore, for instance, appears warm-toned, possibly a Spring).

If you’re an Ethereal Natural Ingenue with a naturally vivid or bold color season, you might find that your most flattering colors still feel rather gentle.

For instance, if you’re an ENI Spring or Autumn, you could choose your palette blues and purples to create a “figuratively cool”, peaceful impression.

If you’re an ENI Winter, you could wear large amounts of your lighter palette colors (Winters tend to be flattered by a range of colors, ranging from very light to very dark) to emphasize the gentleness of your essence blend.

Nymph-like Beauty

I’m someone who tends to be very affected by the vibe of a given environment. And I genuinely think that viewing ENI beauty has a positive effect on my mood.

I like reflecting about beauty in general, but there’s a special type of peace and happiness I seemed to get from studying photos of ENI celebrities and ENI fashion.

If this is your style type, you have breathtaking and powerful beauty.

It’s not powerful in the sense of a Dramatic vibe, where the mood is edgy, intense, and commanding.

But ENI beauty is deeply powerful with its ability to simultaneously calm and uplift. Powerful in the goddess-like beauty of Ethereal combined with the kindness of Ingenue combined with friendly, strong, grounded Natural.
